â The parts of the decarbonization process (and impact businesses)
Decarbonization is not only carbon credits, it is the set of tools and measures put in place to reduce the CO2 emissions of a company or a country. So it's a process.
1) First we will start with a carbon footprint to analyze and understand these emissions.
On this stage, we can cite Greenly. A start-up that will support companies with few employees up to large companies to calculate their carbon balance effectively.
2) We will be able to implement emission reduction strategies that can sometimes be part of CSR strategies more generally.
I met Toovalu, a platform that will precisely allow you to assess your carbon footprint but also to implement a CSR strategy and pilot it to reduce its emissions.
3) We have the last part of the carbon credit, which makes it possible to contribute to global carbon neutrality by financing projects that will reduce CO2 emissions.
For example, there is Riverse which is in the process of developing a new carbon credit certification standard. It's always a bit unclear to certify and define what a carbon credit is and they, so they developed a standard to do that.
I can also quote Net zero a startup up that will develop carbon credits using biochar. Biochar is a kind of vegetable carbon that will make it possible to store CO2 sustainably in the soil and therefore to produce carbon credits and sell them from this material.

The first thing to put in place in a start-up or even more generally in all companies is to appoint a manager or even a team in order to be able to do research on CSR strategies, the decarbonization strategies to be put in place.
Then it will be interesting to work with professionals, so whether it is with the start-ups I mentioned or even with consulting firms that will be able to support startups. So having professionals and having managers within the company is the first thing to do.
Establishing a carbon footprint, today it is mandatory for the largest companies in France it will become mandatory I think in the future for all companies so today there are more and more platform players who allow it to be done quickly and easily.
And if not, of course, we can also talk about actions related to information technology. This is something that today is a big issue in start-ups with a lot of people who will come and go, so a flow of all the computer hardware. So I can cite for example the Rzilient platform, which precisely allows you to manage your entire computer park, to have a general point of view on your actions, whether on your CO2 emissions or on your computer equipment. It precisely allows us to better understand what is happening within our company and then be able to act accordingly.

How to effectively engage and raise awareness among your employees in decarbonization actions?
I think that a business is also a place where all these ideas can be born. The start-up format in particular offers the possibility of getting involved quite quickly and allows everyone to participate and get involved.
â
1) Involve professionals via conferences
2) Set up various support formats via online courses or workshops (Climate Fresque and 2 tons workshop).
AXA Climate will precisely support companies in raising awareness among employees.
3) Appoint internal managers or propose to everyone, in each of their divisions, to implement actions.
I heard about some companies that were going to offer their employees to work for 4 days and to take the fifth day to commit to different actions.
4) Team building and collaborative activities that are set up on the theme of decarbonization (brainstorm, games...)

What is Objective Net Zero?
Objective Net Zero today is a research project and a newsletter on impact startups specializing in decarbonization.
In fact, I created Objective Net Zero because I wanted to dig deeper into the subject of decarbonization. And so, I told myself that it was interesting to formalize a bit of a launch to create social networks, not only to be able to dig into the subject personally, but also, to highlight via publications the impact startups that I met and to highlight my discoveries on the decarbonization sector.
With Objective Net Zero, we communicate on different channels, so the first is the newsletter where every week I highlight five decarbonization startups in France. I produce articles, so for each actor I will publish on medium. I am doing newsletters, we will have numerical information to quickly understand what the start-up up does and in the article we will be able to go a little deeper into everything that the start-up does in detail. Then I write articles and these actors on Linkedin and Instagram.
